Privacy Policy

Overview

Preshift WhatsApp Chat for ClickUp (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension published by Preshift. It embeds venue WhatsApp conversations inside ClickUp task pages for authorized support teams. This policy describes what data the Extension accesses, stores, and transmits.

Data we collect and store locally

The Extension stores the following in your browser (Chrome sync storage where applicable):

• Middleware URL — the address of your organization’s Preshift server
• Extension API key — used to authenticate with your Preshift server
• Preferences — chat enabled/disabled, notification and sound toggles, theme (light/dark/auto)
• Quick reply templates — titles, shortcuts, and message bodies you create in settings
• Unread badge state — counts used to highlight tasks with new WhatsApp messages

This data stays on your device and in your signed-in Chrome profile. Preshift does not operate a separate cloud database for Extension settings.

Data transmitted

When you use the Extension, it communicates with:

• ClickUp (app.clickup.com) — the Extension injects a chat panel on task pages. It reads the current task ID from the page URL to load the correct conversation. It does not modify ClickUp account data beyond displaying the panel and unread badges in the page UI.
• Your Preshift middleware server (support-tickets.preshift.co.uk or the URL configured in settings) — to load conversation history, send messages and media, receive real-time updates via WebSocket, and verify your API key.

Message content (text, images, documents, reactions, and metadata) is transmitted between your browser and your organization’s Preshift server. That server already stores venue WhatsApp conversations as part of the Preshift ticket automation service.

Data we do not collect

• No advertising or analytics trackers
• No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for marketing
• No collection of browsing history outside ClickUp task pages
• No standalone WhatsApp login — the Extension does not connect directly to Meta/WhatsApp

Permissions explained

• storage — save settings, templates, and unread state
• tabs — open the relevant ClickUp task when you click a desktop notification
• notifications — alert you to new WhatsApp messages for venue groups
• app.clickup.com — inject the chat panel on ClickUp task pages
• support-tickets.preshift.co.uk — connect to the Preshift middleware API and WebSocket

Who can use this Extension

The Extension requires a valid Extension API key issued by your organization’s Preshift administrator. Access to WhatsApp conversation data is governed by your organization’s Preshift server configuration and ClickUp workspace permissions.

Data retention and deletion

Uninstalling the Extension removes its local data from your browser profile. Conversation history on the Preshift server is retained according to your organization’s policies. To remove saved settings without uninstalling, clear the Extension’s storage in chrome://extensions → Extension details → Clear data.

Children

The Extension is intended for business use by authorized support staff. It is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
